Vienna Prater - Vienna Prater information and pictures



Vienna Prater is one of the most visited tourist attractions. The Prater is a public park with large area set as amusement park with rides, carousels and bumper cars. It houses the Vienna Planetarium the Prater Museum and the famous Giant Ferris Wheel (Riesenrad).

It is quite an adventure to climb on the Riesenrad. It soars 65 m (213 ft) up in the sky and is the oldest Ferris wheel in the Prater. It was erected between 1896-97 and designed by the English engineer Walter Basset. The Riesenrad is open year round and rewards the visitor with splendid view over the city of Vienna.

The entry into the Prater is free. The prices for every attraction vary from 1 to 10 Euro.

How to get to the Prater: U-Bahn : U1 to Praterstern; Streetcar O, 5 to Praterstern or S1-S3, S7, S15 to Wien Nord
