In 1793 British colonial officials founded the 'Town of York'. In 1867 when Canada became a country Toronto had 50,000 residents. Today Toronto is the largest Canadian city, and is the most important commercial, financial, industrial, and cultural center in Canada. Toronto is a world class city and one of the best places to live. Toronto is also a home of the tallest building in the world – CN Tower.
