Moulin Rouge (Red Windmill) located in Montmartre is the best known music and dancing hall in all of Paris and has earned a worldwide reputation.

Moulin Rouge was built in 1885 as a traditional cabaret and quickly became known with its colorful dance shows. Toulouse-Lautrec (the famous French artist) immortalized the Cancan dancers in his posters. Some of the famous performers at Moulin Rouge include Yvette Guilbert, Jane Avril, Josephine Baker, Frank Sinatra and Édith Piaf.
