Millennium Park has quickly become one of Chicago's prize locations. First proposed in the late 1990's, Millennium Park has come to symbolize the unique culture of the city and provide entertainment to children of all ages.

Millennium Park sits upon the remnants of part of the Illinois Central Railroad for more than 100 years. This 24.5 acre park transformed what used to be considered an eye sore to the city into a beautiful lake front attraction. While the neighboring Grant Park was built around the railroad tracks that dotted the area, Millennium Park removed these unsightly remnants and created a park the city was proud of.

Millennium Park offers attractions that everyone is sure to enjoy. Not only has the park become well known for its unique beauty and landscaping, but for its innovative architecture as well. Millennium Park is home to the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, a contemporary style outdoor concert pavilion that seats more than 10,000 guests between the pavilion seating and the Great Lawn. The Jay Pritzker Pavilion, designed by Frank Gehry, hosts events for many genres of concerts as well as other events, and there is generally some form of event planned each week. Frank Gehry is a renowned architect who also designed the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. If indoor theater and concerts are more your style, there is the Joan W. and Irving B. Harris Theater for Music and Dance, where you can find more intimate events for your entertainment pleasure.

One of the highlights of the entire park is the Crown Fountain, with two 50 foot glass towers that project images that depict the cultural melting pot of the Chicago area. Other outdoor attractions that are loved by both tourists and residents alike are the Lurie Garden and the Cloud Gate or also known as the Chicago Bean. The Lurie Garden is a 2.5 acre spread of colorful flowers and greenery for visitors to enjoy. The Cloud Gate(Chicago Bean), a sculpture by Anish Kapoor, is a unique design that is an incredible 66 feet long and 33 feet high. This amazing sculpture resembles liquid mercury, and guests enjoy viewing the reflections of themselves and the city in its steely reflective surface.
