Hyde Park - Hyde Park information and pictures



Hyde ParkLondon has large green spaces and a lot of parks but probably one of the best known is Hyde Park. It is a huge park close to Buckingham Palace, Green Park and Kensington Gardens.

The large artificial lake – The Serpentine was constructed in 1730 and is a popular spot for row boating. Hyde Park also is a popular place for horse riding, jogging, and bike riding.

The most famous spot is the Speaker’s Corner. It is where the people used to come every Sunday to express their political and religious views freely. The Speaker’s corner was established at the end of 19th century.

Wellington Arch is on the south-east corner of Hyde park, connecting it with Green Park. It was designed by Decimus Burton and was erected in 1828. The sculpture was added later in 1912 created by Adrian Jones.

The Marble Arch is on the north – east corner of the park very close to the Speaker’s corner. It was built in 1828 by John Nash.
